    Kerodia

A 3-year-old boy from Cambodia created to thrive

    Kerodia’s story

At just 12 years old, Kerodia was found living on the streets in Africa, alone and vulnerable. Orphaned at a young age, she was left in the care of her uncle—an abusive alcoholic who provided neither love nor protection. With nowhere else to turn, the streets became her reality, a dangerous world for a young girl with no one to look out for her.

That all changed when Kerodia was rescued and brought to the Centre of Hope. For the first time in her life, she had a safe place to sleep, regular meals, medical care, and most importantly, love and guidance.

Despite everything she had endured, she was eager to learn. Having never attended school before, she was placed in a special program where she worked tirelessly to catch up. In just four years, she completed her primary education—an incredible achievement—graduating with straight As.

Now 17 years old, Kerodia has set her sights on a future that once seemed impossible, she wants to become a doctor. Her heart is set on continuing her education, not just for herself but to one day help others in need.

    Fulfilling her dream

Now, thanks to the generous support of Mariposa Energía, Kerodia is sponsored and one step closer to fulfilling her dream of a brighter future.

Or a slightly more heartfelt version:

Because of the incredible generosity of Mariposa Energía, Kerodia is now sponsored and finally walking toward her dream with hope in her heart and a smile on her face.

Kerodia will now attend a private boarding school, where she will receive not just an education but also a safe place to live, food, and the support she needs to thrive. During school holidays, she will stay at the Centre of Hope or the transitional house, ensuring she never has to return to an unsafe environment.

She has already defied the odds, and now, with our support, she has the opportunity to achieve her dream of becoming a doctor.
